First responders must have adequate radio coverage when operating inside large structures. The fire code evolved to ensure new or renovated buildings deliver coverage even when energy-efficient building material blocks radio signals. Proof of coverage is required before building occupancy and during periodic inspections. Conducting a survey involves time-consuming signal measurements in grid sections of the building. Reducing the burden of this survey process is an important goal, and iBwave expanded its offering to meet the challenge.
At IWCE 2023, iBwave showed how its in-building design system is complemented by iBwave Mobile Survey capability developed in collaboration with Epiq. During a walk-test of the structure, the Epiq PRiSM spectrum scanner feeds radio signal data into iBwave Mobile Survey. This approach speeds up the data collection process and reduces recording errors. After the test is complete, the iBwave Mobile Survey software generates an output report designed to meet the requirements of a local Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ).
Thanks to iBwave's Tony Singh for demonstrating of the offering.
