Extending push-to-talk communications over satellite links helps ensure resilience and extend coverage to remote regions. Cobham SATCOM is a well-established leader in the segment with a significant deployment supporting the fire service in New South Wales, Australia.

At IWCE 2023, Cobham SATCOM unveiled the next iteration of its mobile gateway portfolio. The new Explorer Mobile Gateway 3 eliminates the need for an attached mobile router, instead offering routing capabilities natively.

The new gateway is programmable and, as shown at IWCE, can host a Project 25 repeater that extends mission-critical push-to-talk communications with the aid of Low Earth Orbit (LEO) solutions such as SpaceX Starlink.
