Told in Their Own Words: Fire Department Software from Emergent
Demonstrated at: #FDIC24
FDIC 2024 provided a colorful backdrop to Emergent's debut in its first high-profile public exhibition. The company brings a fresh approach towards leveraging data assets in the fire service by making seamless multi-system integration a driving force. In this demonstration, Emergent President David Blankinship reviews the company's vision of making data available to whatever software package an agency uses, regardless of the data source. Emergent's initial offering for the fire service addresses apparatus maintenance data, daily apparatus checks, and on-scene incident management.
FirstNet by AT&T hosted the Emergent team at the FirstNet demonstration area at FDIC 2024. While the link between Emergent and FirstNet was fuzzy then, the exhibition was a harbinger of a coming announcement that Emergent is a full-fledged member of the FirstNet Embedded IoT Program (link). The move is significant because future embedded Emergent appliances in vehicles will function without an agency having to take on the burden of an additional FirstNet subscription.
Emergent has the potential to be a transformative platform for fire service agencies. The company's roots are in the Pierce dealership world, and its relationship with Pierce creates the environment for a top-of-class integration with the growing amount of data emitted by on-vehicle systems.
Emergent's David Blankinship also co-founded Intterra, a company that delivers vital data interoperability across California and many other jurisdictions. With Emergent, the guiding strategy of breaking down data silos that Mr. Blankinship embraced at Intterra now expands into new data-rich platforms.
Beyond capturing data from fire service vehicles and daily apparatus checks, Emergent has created a cloud-based platform for incident management. The module comes with the Emergent package and, with Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) integration, provides fire service agencies with a thoughtfully designed dashboard for managing the incident response.
Thanks to David Blankinship for sharing his vision on a busy show floor and to Emergent's Lead Product Manager, Kelly Pithan, for demonstrating the modules.
