APCO2021: Siyata Mobile SD7 MCPTT Handheld Demo
Some hands-on experience with the recently unveiled Siyata Mobile Inc SD7 MCPTT handheld. First impressions are very positive. The unit is marked by impressive industrial design, simple control operation, and a solid feel in your hand.
Our view is that this device fills a gap in 3GPP mission-critical Push-to-Talk (MCPTT) devices: that of the single-purpose PTT handheld. Leaving behind the baggage of a smartphone and its cumbersome touchscreen user interface, the SD7 provides an easy-to-use voice communications tool for people who need to be in voice contact on mission-critical and business-critical networks.
Primary use cases will likely revolve around enterprise applications, public safety command staff, and EMS crews. Like all other LTE devices, the SD7 does not support direct mode capability. This limitation means frontline police and fire will remain on hybrid devices that blend LMR and LTE.
Thanks to Jason DePue, who shared a short description of the SD7 capabilities.
